Re: Sonic Generations
Did you ever buy Sonic Colors? That's pretty much the Modern Style gameplay.

Re: Sonic Generations
New info!
First, here's some info on the 3DS version, including scans:
http://www.tssznews.com/2011/05/25/sonic-generations-3ds-scans/
Important things to take from the article:
-Green Hill Zone is the only Zone to be shared between the handheld and console versions
-Casino Night and Launch Base Zones will be on the 3DS version
-No Wii version of the game, though I would assume this is because it'll be on the Cafe
Second, the full list of levels for the game has perhaps maybe been leaked:
It will be pretty disappointing if most of the levels are from the Adventure games on, especially since Heroes through Unleashed should just be ignored entirely for being so very bad. There's no reason not to throw at least a Sonic CD level in there.

Level list possibly leaked, full of iizuka-san favorites. It's posted up in the sonic retro forums, supposedly someone from archie leaked it
sonic 1 - ghz (derp)
sonic 2 - chemical plant
sonic 3 - sky sanctuary
sonic adventure - speed highway
sonic adventure 2 - city escape
sonic heroes - either seaside hill / bingo highway
sonic 06 - crisis city
sonic unleashed - unknown (source didn't remember)
sonic colors - planet wisp

Re: Sonic Generations
Yay! It looks like that leaked list wasn't true!
This leaked list, which I'm thinking is more authentic, strikes me as a better collection that I would be happy with:

Re: Sonic Generations
A Sonic Generations follow-up is confirmed!! Check it out here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=28602534&postcount=4070
In more seriously terrible news, the 3DS version is coming along quite awfully:
Quick summary: It's Sonic 4 pretending to be classic Sonic. And yes, Dimps is behind the 3DS version. I like Sonic 4 a lot more than most, but I'm certainly not fond of lazily using that same engine for this. For an example of what I'm talking about...
Uncurling is in place.

(In the original Green Hill Zone, this is a point where you'd be balled up in the air. You'd collect whatever rings you could and then bounce off any nearby badniks.)
Other factoids of negativity:
-No Game Gear stages. Yay more Modern Sonic settings?
http://www.sonicstadium.org/2011/06/e3-sonic-generations-qa-with-takashi-iizuka/
-Poor graphics and awwwwwful music. That Doomsday Zone mix is awful.
-The framerate takes a huge hit with the 3D on. I hope 3D off becomes the default for future 3DS titles.
There's still time for it to improve, but things are kind of grim at this point for the handheld version.

Re: Sonic Generations
Well, for whatever reason they used the wrong music for the boss fight. The track that's there is from Doomsday Zone, which they then proceeded to make sound like something from a Windows 3.1 midi player.
But the problem with the boss fight itself is that it looks overly simplistic. Yes, in the original version Robotnik tried to hug you, but he also used the spike top as on obstacle you had to avoid, among other things. Other than the hug attack you just have to stroll to the opposite side this time around. Pretty lame.

That originally leaked list is actually the true one. Time to lower expectations accordingly.

Re: Sonic Generations
For what the demo showed you, I can't believe that you're not expressing at least a little enjoyment. I swear, the way you're posting is giving the impression that you like Sonic 4 better, which was an absolute train-wreck. This game actually plays and feels like the original Sonic games. The only thing you REALLY need to be disappointed in right now is the level list. Give the game a chance. Things could still change between now and the demo.
